Motif Jewelers grew from a family startup into a multi-location, customer-focused retailer known for craftsmanship, exclusivity, innovation, and exceptional service.
Our Humble Beginning
In the late 1970s, the Chopjian family launched their jewelry venture in Detroit despite challenging economic times. Starting with design and repair work for regional jewelers, their reputation for craftsmanship led to growth and a move to Southfield in 1983 as Flash Jewelers. After acquiring molds and equipment from Motif Manufacturing, they founded Flash Manufacturing in 1989. Toros Chopjian later revived the Motif name, creating Motif Diamond Design and opening the first Motif Jewelers store in 1996.
With a focus on service and quality, the business expanded, eventually relocating to Taylor and opening a flagship showroom in 2021.

Motif Jewelers Today And Tomorrow
Motif Jewelers, now led by two generations of the Chopjian family and a skilled sales and marketing team, continues to innovate while honoring its customer-focused values. Expansion accelerated in 2011 with a second Southland Center store, followed by the 2013 merger that revitalized Milford Jewelers under the Motif name. In 2017, the family opened Metro Detroit’s largest state-of-the-art jewelry showroom at Southland, later relocating to a boutique-style Taylor location in 2021. Customers now enjoy 24/7 online shopping, design tools, virtual appointments, and active social media engagement.
